According to the feedback of some Xinjiang ginning plants and traders, the sale of seed cotton in Xinjiang had basically ended by the middle of December (there were still a few intermittent acquisitions in Aksu and Kashi). Due to the decline of seed cotton grade quality indicators, the listing of re harvested cotton and other reasons, the purchase price of seed cotton declined significantly compared with October and November. From December 9 to 10, the purchase price of cotton picking in Kashgar, Yuepu Lake, Bachu and other places with a percentage of 36-37% and a percentage of less than 12% dropped to 6.25-6.50 yuan/kg, significantly narrowing the gap with the purchase price of cotton picking in the same percentage and machine.
According to statistics, as of December 9, Xinjiang has processed more than 4.9 million tons of lint in 2024/25 (a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%), and inspected 4.2239 million tons of lint in 2024/25. Among them, 995 ginning plants participated in the public inspection in 2024, 23 less than the previous year.
Since the first ten days of December, the daily processing volume of newly increased lint cotton in Xinjiang has remained at 60000 to 70000 tons, and some institutions and cotton related enterprises have raised the 2024/25 Xinjiang cotton (14690, - 40.00, -0.27%). However, according to the survey, up to now, more than 50% of ginning plants have finished processing in Shihezi, Changji, Tacheng, Yili and other major cotton regions in northern Xinjiang, and 20-30% of machine picking ginning plants in the three major cotton regions in southern Xinjiang have shut down. It is estimated that the overall operating rate of ginning plants in Xinjiang will exceed 60% by the end of December. Therefore, the purchase and processing progress of Xinjiang cotton in 2024/25 may be about half a month ahead of the previous year.
As Zheng Mian's main CF2505 contract recently fell below the integer level of 13800 yuan/ton, some ginning plants failed to meet the sales schedule of lint in 2024/25. In addition to the concern that the United States will impose additional tariffs on Chinese imports in the first half of 2025, Xinjiang's lint picking price has generally fallen back to 100-200 yuan/ton, and the cost of lint and sales of ginning plants have increased.
