Fabric Knowledge: Sunlight Fastness Of Reactive Dyed Yarns

Reactive dyes, which are complete in chromatography, cheap in price, convenient in production control and good in wet fastness, are the most commonly used cotton dyes in printing and dyeing factories.

The light fastness of cotton yarn, especially light colored, sensitive and grey, has been poor, and it is difficult to meet the requirements.

In yarn dyeing, the color fastness to sunlight refers to the resistance of textiles to sunlight during the use.


 

1. at present, the color fastness to sunlight of textiles has been paid more and more attention both at home and abroad. Many Chinese product standards in the textile industry have taken the color fastness to sunlight as an important assessment index.


 

2. sunlight fastness is mainly affected by dye matrix, active group, dye dosage and soaping.


 

3. in this paper, we compare the color obtained from the RGB series dyestuffs used in our factory with the other two dyestuffs in the market, and compare the light fastness with the same color.


 

Experimental materials.

Material: pure cotton 40sC (Jinling Textile Co., Ltd.).

Drugs: CL-2R yellow, CL-5B red, HF-RL blue; HL yellow, HL red, HL blue; RGB yellow, RGB red, RGB brilliant blue; sodium sulfate (industrial grade), soda ash (industrial grade).


 

Experimental method.

CL series and HL series were used to dye the same color of ash under different dosages with the existing RGB reactive dyes. Then the sunlight fastness and dyeing formula were measured (5kg).

According to the AATCC TM16 color fastness test standard, the sun fastness tester was tested.

According to the 1.3 test method, the fastness of CL series and HL series was measured in 1.2. The reason why the wet fastness of cotton fabric was low was not the drop of dye, but the shedding of raw cotton fibers after dark dyeing and the decrease of appearance fastness.

A comparison was made with the results of RGB's fastness to sunlight.

It can be seen that the fastness of the two series of dyes is higher than that of RGB.


 

Cost accounting.

Based on the dye dosage of 5kg yarn, the amount of dyestuff and dyeing cost needed to be dyed in the same depth of RGB series, CL series and HL series can be seen.

The shedding of raw fibers has a certain effect on the shape of the yarn and the surface state of the fabric, even if it is dyed with the same dye and depth, it will produce about half a difference.

The price of dye is: CL-2R yellow 79 yuan /kg, CL-5B red 85 yuan /kg, HF-RL blue 198 yuan /kg; HL yellow 95 yuan /kg, HL red 112 yuan /kg, HF-RL blue 130 yuan Xing; yellow yellow 33 yuan, red 35 yuan, blue blue 78 yuan, dyed the same color, the highest price of the series of dyes.

CL series and HL series dyes can turn gray.

If the dye is not completely soaped on the surface of the fabric, it will give the dyed good dyeing fastness.

But in fact, their dyes often appear faded, discoloured or stained in the process of testing, using, washing or even storing.

Wet rubbing fastness may sometimes be lower than grade 2.

Deep dyeing must be thoroughly soaped to the dyed fabric.

The dyeing properties of CL series and HL series are similar. The levelling and reproducibility of the samples are quite similar.

With the same color, the cost of CL combination is higher than that of HL. The combination of dyeing cost and effect, HL combination is more suitable for mass production.
